Happy New Year PAK Families!

We are kicking off the new year with many events and opportunities to get together..Mark your Calendars!

Our first for the new year is a family outing at Sports Connection…

***Sunday, January 15, 2017, 2 pm at Sports Connection BOTH LOCATIONS!

This is a super fun opportunity for the youth recommended age  7+ and teens to get together and play laser tag, video games and a ride. Space is limited...RSVP by mailing name and ages of attendees with a 10$ fee per family, made payable to Parents of Allergic Kids PO Box 1634 Indian Trail, NC 28079 or through or Paypal . This is the only way to secure your space. This event was made possible through a community award from Food Allergy Research & Education (FARE).

Then on Thursday, January 19, our Youth Guided Workshop Series continues...

***6:00-7:00 pm (Ages 8-12) and 7:00-8:00 pm (Ages 13+) The workshops will cover all aspects of dealing with a severe allergy diagnosis in an age appropriate manner. Topics to be covered but are not limited to: stress, anxiety, dealing with friends, schools, outside activities, autoinjector management and the like.The workshops will be held at the Waverly office of Carolina Asthma and Allergy Center located at 11840 Southmore, Charlotte 28277. Just south of where they are putting in the new Whole Foods by the Ardrey Kell and Providence Intersection (Turn in at the Providence Country Club light) This project was made possible through a community award from Food Allergy Research & Education (FARE). Running simultaneously to the workshop on January 19

6:00 - 8:00 pm Parent Chat Newly Diagnosed & Veterans Come join fellow parents discussing managing our allergies in a variety of settings, i.e. with family, friends, church, and in school. This will be held concurrently with the youth workshops listed below at Carolina Asthma and Allergy Center located at 11840 Southmore, Charlotte 28277 . You do not need to have a child in the workshop to attend.

***YOGA NIGHT! Friday, February 3, 7pm-8pm at Be Yoga, Carmel location, 7510 Pineville Matthews Rd, Ste 2B, Charlotte, North Carolina 28226 Tracy Mott with BeYoga will be leading a workshop to enable our families to deal with today’s stresses. The workshop will include yoga poses, breath work, guided meditation, and reflection. Participants will feel refreshed with the tools to use in every day life. This is for all families living with allergies, parents, siblings welcome to participate. This event was made possible through a community award from Food Allergy Research & Education (FARE). A donation of 5$ per family is requested but not required. (checks payable to Parents of Allergic Kids mailed to PO Box 1634 Indian Trail, NC 28079 to secure space)


***Bridging the Gap: Patients, Pediatricians, and Allergists Unite  Saturday, February 4, 2:00 PM at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 8015 Ballantyne Commons Pkwy Dr. Jennifer Caicedo with Food Allergy Institute of Charlotte and Dr. Rachel Wiese with Charlotte Pediatric Clinic will lead our first educational session of Bridging the Gap between allergy families and their pediatricians and allergists. We are working with local physicians to improve care for everyone, whether you are newly diagnosed or have been managing allergies for years. Let us know what topics you would like to discuss and what information you are looking for so the doctors may shape this discussion to be more integrative and informative!

***Planning Meeting for Parents Sunday, February 12th at 2:00 pm, at the Starbucks in Ballantyne, NC at StoneCrest at 7922 Rea Rd, Charlotte, NC 28277 We want to bring everyone together to begin to plan and strategize together for PAK and IMPAKT in 2017. We will discuss what meetings, events, advocacy, outreach our group will do in the coming year.  This Starbucks is on the corner of Ballantyne Commons and Rea Rd, near Target in Stonecrest Shopping Center, easy to hop on/off I-485
